Australian  History

Rainbow's association with Australia began in 1985. From that one school in 1985, Rainbows has grown to become an integral part of the pastoral care of Government and Non-Government Schools in country and metropolitan Australia.

In 1996 representatives of Rainbows from Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria formed a committee to revise the existing U.S.A. materials and produce a truly Australian edition of the Rainbows journals and resources. These are now distributed through an Australian publisher.

An Australian training team was established in July 1996, to provide Director training throughout Australia. This Director training occurs every three years. The last Registered Director training was held in October 2008 in Brisbane.  The next RD training is on 9-14 October 2010 in Shoalwater, Western Australia. Current Registered Directors can also attend an Enrichment Training on 12-15 October 2010 in Shoalwater.

There are now 25 volunteer Rainbows Registered Directors who provide training, support and resources to all registered sites so they can assist the healing of our hurting youth.
